Artist Statement
The
idea derived from my previous work "like puppets we dance". We are
celebrating 20 years of democracy and our achievements as a country. Athough
there is a sence of excitement, some are not celebrating. I believe there are
some stories untold. This artwork focuses on a certain group of citizens in South
Africa. This group feels side-lined from the system they voted for. Underprivileged
people are used as stepping stones or puppets. These people are still in the
darkness waiting for a true democracy.
