Artist Statement - Desperation for Education “Education is free, shall be free”.
In a land where there is too much political rivalry, fraud and corruption among our politicians, service delivery towards education is affected. Students do not receive text books/ study guides in time. By the constitutional law, education shall be obtained free and everyone has the right to education. I look in my society I see something different to what is quoted by the constitutional law. The youth is desperate for education. In South Africa we have a poor system for education and the majority of the youth are less enthusiastic to participate in educational activities. To improve lives and the economy we shall invest in education, make the become interest to learn more than what there have learned.
The process is engraving; the work is very well considered how to achieve dramatic scenery. I illustrated equations, text book, DNA, etc. to an idea of education and it necessity. The repetitions of the sticky figure represent a crowd of young people desperate to earn the right to education. I place the parliament in the centre to make it important part in the composition. The society looks upon the people in the parliament to solve the problem with our education system.

The conditions in my community inspired me to deal with this topic. My society suffers because of the system, the research for this work looks upon every school in the country where learner struggle with education and people not knowing the important of education.
